Ausdehnung der West Coast Conference

Die West Coast Conference ist eine aus neun Universitäten bestehende Liga für diverse Sportarten, die in der NCAA Division I spielen. Alle acht Mitglieder sind Privatuniversitäten mit religiösem Hintergrund. Sieben der neun Universitäten sind der katholischen Kirche verbunden.

Die Liga wurde 1952 gegründet. Die Mitglieder befinden sich alle an der Westküste der Vereinigten Staaten. Der Hauptsitz befindet sich in San Bruno im Bundesstaat Kalifornien. Die Brigham Young University, eine mit der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der Letzten Tage verbundene Universität mit Sitz in Provo, Utah, gab am 31. August 2010 bekannt, ab der Saison 2011/12 ihren Spielbetrieb von der Mountain West Conference in die West Coast Conference zu verlegen.[1]
