Die Stadt Clocolan in der Gemeinde Setsoto, Distrikt Thabo Mofutsanyane, Provinz Freistaat in Südafrika liegt im östlichen Teil des Free-State-Hochlands auf 1.580 Meter Höhe an der Grenze zu Lesotho. [1] Sie hat 13.631 Einwohner (Stand: 2010; Hochrechnung).[2]

Ursprünglich wurde das Gebiet von Basotho bewohnt. Ein europäischer Händler errichtete einen Laden in einer Höhle in den Bergen. Die Stadt wurde 1906 nahe der Höhle gegründet. Benannt wurde sie nach dem für europäische Siedler nicht richtig auszusprechendem Sesotho-Word Hlohlowane, der Bezeichnung für die nahe gelegenen Berge.
