Die Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) ist ein im April 1959 von Roy Nutt, Fletcher Jones und Bob Patrick [4] gegründetes IT-Beratungs- und -Dienstleistungsunternehmen mit Sitz in Falls Church in Virginia. Die Verlegung des Firmensitzes vom Gründungsort des Unternehmens in El Segundo, Kalifornien nach Falls Church in Virginia wurde am 30. Januar 2008 veröffentlicht [5]. Präsident und CEO des Unternehmens ist seit Mai 2007 Michael W. Laphen[6].

Das Unternehmen hatte Ende März 2008 etwa 90.000 Mitarbeiter [2]. Geschäftsfelder sind Systemdesign und -integration, IT- und Geschäftsprozessoutsourcing, Entwicklung von Anwendungssoftware, Web und Application Hosting sowie Managementberatung. CSC erwirtschaftete im zum 28. März 2008 endenden Geschäftsjahr 2008 einen Umsatz von etwa 16,5 Mrd. US-Dollar [3], in den zwölf Monaten bis zum 1. April 2005 betrug der Umsatz noch 14,1 Milliarden US-$ aus laufenden Geschäftstätigkeiten.

In Europa erwirtschaftete CSC im Geschäftsjahr 2005 einen Jahresumsatz von 4,3 Mrd. USD [7] und ist mit rund 4.900 fest angestellten Mitarbeitern in Deutschland, Österreich, der Schweiz, der Tschechischen Republik, der Slowakei, Polen und Ungarn vertreten, in Deutschland mit CSC Deutschland Services GmbH (Schwerpunkt Outsourcing), CSC Deutschland Solutions GmbH (Schwerpunkt Consulting und Systemintegration) und CSC Deutschland Akademie GmbH (Schwerpunkt Human Capital Consulting). Für das Geschäftsjahr 2008 wurde für den Geschäftsbereich Europa ein Jahresumsatz von 4.824,6 Mio. USD ausgewiesen [3].

CSC ist an der NYSE registriert unter dem Symbol CSC.

CSC war bis Ende 2008 offizieller Sponsor des Profi-Radsportteams Teams CSC. Allerdings will CSC dem Radsport weiterhin treu bleiben, indem es kleinere Sponsorenverträge schließt und Bannerwerbung bei vielen Radrennen schaltet.
