Connector

Der Begriff Connector stammt aus dem englischen und spielt überall dort eine Rolle, wo ein Bindeglied oder eine Schnittstelle benötigt wird.

Auf den IT-Bereich bezogen werden zum Beispiel POP3-Connectoren eingesetzt. Bei Produkten der Firma Microsoft ermöglichen diese Microsoft Exchange-Servern das Abholen von E-Mail-Nachrichten über das „fremde“ Post Office Protocol (POP). Ein anderes Beispiel ist die mySQL-Connector-Klasse für Java, die es Java-Anwendungen erlaubt auf eine mySQL-Datenbank zuzugreifen.
