David Francis Williamson, Baron Williamson of Horton GCMG, CB, PC (* 8. Mai 1934) ist ein britischer Staatsbediensteter und aktives Mitglied des House of Lords.
Leben und Karriere
Er wurde an der Tonbridge School (Tonbridge) und dem Exeter College (Oxford) unterrichtet. 1956 bis 1958 diente er im Royal Corp of Signals. Er begann seine Beamtenlaufbahn 1958 im Ministerium für Agrar, Fischerei und Nahrung. Dort wurde er 1967 Principal Private Secretary für den Minister. Er war Deputy Director-General for Agriculture in der Europäischen Kommission von 1977 bis 1983 und Generalsekretär für die Europäische Kommission von 1987 bis 1997.
Von 1983 bis 1987 war er nach Großbritannien zurückgekehrt um das Amt des Deputy Secretary and head the European Secretariat in the Cabinet Office anzunehmen. Nachdem er Brüssel verlassen hatte, wurde Williamson zum Life Peer erhoben. Derzeit sitzt er im House of Lords als Crossbencher. Seit 2004 ist er Convenor of the Crossbench Peers.
Familie
Er heiratete 1961 Patricia Smith und hat zwei Söhne mit ihr.
