Die Dunfermline Building Society ist die größte Bausparkasse Schottlands.[2] Das Kreditinstitut mit Sitz in Dunfermline hatte im Jahr 2009 etwa 312.000 Kunden.[3]
Geschichte
Das Unternehmen wurde 1869 gegründet. 1994 wurde der neue Hauptsitz im Süden von Dunfermline bezogen. 1999 wurde erstmals Telefonbanking angeboten.[4] 2009 geriet das Unternehmen während der Finanzkrise in wirtschaftliche Schwierigkeiten. Grund sollen risikoreiche Anlagen in den USA sein.[2] Presseberichten zufolge sucht die britische Finanzmarktaufsicht Käufer für Teile des Unternehmens. Es wird erwartet, dass das Unternehmen einen Verlust für 2008 in Höhe von 27 Millionen Pfund ausweisen wird.[5]
