Filimer

Filimer war legendärer König der Goten gemäß der Überlieferung des Jordanes. Er ist historisch nicht bezeugt.

Die gotische Stammeslegende berichtet, dass fünf Generationen nach der Landnahme in Gothiscandza durch Berig die Bevölkerung stark zugenommen hatte, weswegen König Filimer die Auswanderung beschloss. Auf der Wanderung war bei der Überquerung einer Brücke diese eingestürzt und hatte die Spaltung der Goten verursacht. Der vordere Teil war schließlich glücklich am Schwarzen Meer angekommen.

Antiken Geschichtsschreibern war der Gotenstamm im 1. und 2. Jahrhundert bekannt. Er siedelte nördlich des Weichselknies. In der zweiten Hälfte des 2. Jahrhunderts begann die Wanderung der Goten nach Südosten. Ab 238 sind sie an der Donaumündung historisch fassbar. Zwei verschiedene Völker, Terwingen und Greutungen, bzw. West- und Ostgoten waren spätestens ab 291 bekannt.
