Fluid

Die Strömungslehre bezeichnet als Fluid (lat. fluidus „fließend“) eine Substanz, die einer beliebig langsamen Scherung keinen Widerstand entgegensetzt (endliche Viskosität). Der übergeordnete Begriff Fluid für Gase und Flüssigkeiten wird verwendet, weil die meisten physikalischen Gesetze für beide Stoffarten gleichermaßen gelten und sich viele ihrer Eigenschaften nur quantitativ, also in ihren Größenordnungen, aber nicht qualitativ unterscheiden.

Reale Fluide werden eingeteilt in newtonsche Fluide, die sich durch die Navier-Stokes-Gleichung beschreiben lassen, und sich komplexer verhaltende nichtnewtonsche Fluide, die in der Rheologie behandelt werden.

Unter Fluidmanagement versteht man die Gesamtheit von Leistungen rund um flüssige Arbeitsmedien.
