Das Forum for Democracy and Development (deutsch Forum für Demokratie und Entwicklung) ist eine politische Partei in Sambia, die an den Wahlen zur Nationalversammlung am 27. Dezember 2001 teilgenommen hat.
Politik
Sie gewann 15,3 Prozent der Stimmen und 12 der 159 Sitze. Ihr Kandidat für die gleichzeitig stattfindenden Präsidentschaftswahlen war Christon Tembo, der am gleichen Tag 13,2 Prozent der Stimmen auf sich vereinigen konnte.
Das FDD trat in den Wahlkämpfen 2001 und 2006 mit den Themen Korruption und Menschenrechte auf. Gemeinsam mit der United National Indepence Party und der United Party for National Development bildet sie die United Democratic Alliance, die zusammen 65 Sitze in der Nationalversammlung einnehmen, während das regierende Movement for Multiparty Democracy über 79 verfügt.
Edith Nawakwi ist seit 2005 ihr Präsident. Sie löste den ehemaligen Generalleutnant der Sambischen Streitkräfte, Christon Tembo, ab. Zuvor war sie 2001 Generalsekretär und von 2001 bis 2005 Vizepräsident des FDD.
