Ein Gender-Symbol [ˈdʒɛndɚ-Symbol] ist ein Symbol, mit dem das genetische Geschlecht eines Lebewesens oder das soziale Geschlecht („Gender“) eines Menschen gekennzeichnet wird. Die Gender-Symbole sind entweder identisch mit astronomischen Symbolen oder von diesen abgeleitet.

Symbol für das männliche Geschlecht oder einen Mann.

Venus symbol.svg

Das Venussymbol, Symbol des Planeten Venus (Unicode: U+2640 ♀).
Symbol für das weibliche Geschlecht oder eine Frau.

Mercury symbol.svg

Das Symbol des Planeten Merkur (Unicode: U+263F ☿).
Symbol für ein intersexuelles oder hermaphroditisches Lebewesen, auch für Transgender.

Transgender-intersexual symbol.svg

Eine Kombination aus Venus- und Marssymbol (Unicode: U+26A5 ⚥).
Symbol vorwiegend für Intersexuelle, seltener auch für Transgender.

Eine Kombination aus Venus- und Marssymbol mit einem zusätzlichen „Arm“ (Unicode: U+26A7 ⚧).
Ein weiteres Transgender-Symbol; der dritte Arm repräsentiert den Transgender.
