Gerald Kaufman

Gerald Kaufman (* 21. Juni 1930 in Leeds) ist ein britischer Politiker (Labour Party).

Kaufman studierte Philosophie, Politik und Wirtschaft an der University of Oxford. Seit 1970 sitzt er für die Labour Party als Abgeordneter im Unterhaus des Britischen Parlaments. Im Ausland ist Gerald Kaufman vor allem als jüdischer Kritiker der Besatzungspolitik Israels bekannt geworden.

Kaufman war von 1974 bis 1979 als Staatssekretär in verschiedenen Labour-Kabinetten tätig. In der Thatcher-Ära nach 1979 war er viele Jahre "Schatten-Außenminister" der Labour-Opposition. Er ist seit seiner Jugend ein Mitglied der Poale Zion, der Organisation der sozialistischen Zionisten in Großbritannien.
