German Brass

German Brass ist ein professionelles Blechbläserensemble. Das Ensemble unternimmt regelmäßig internationale Konzertreisen (meist unter dem Motto „Around the world“) und spielte zahlreiche Tonträger ein.

Das Ensemble wurde 1974 ins Leben gerufen und trat bis 1983 unter den Namen Deutsches Blechbläserquintett, German Brass Quintett und Quintette à Cuivres Allemand in Erscheinung.[1] Seit 1983 treten die Musiker als German Brass auf.[2] Für die Aufnahme zur CD Bach 300 im Jahr 1985 wurde das Ensemble auf zehn Blechbläser erweitert, um den klanglichen Anforderungen bei der Bearbeitung von Johann Sebastian Bachs Musik für Bläser gerecht zu werden. Einen Großteil der Arrangements, Transkriptionen alter Musik und neuen Kompositionen für die Gruppe erstellen die Mitglieder Enrique Crespo und Matthias Höfs. Besonderen Raum im Repertoire der Formation nimmt genreübergreifende Musik ein.
