HMS Indefatigable

Sieben Schiffe der Royal Navy wurden auf den Namen HMS Indefatigable (deutsch: Die Unermüdliche) getauft.

  • Die erste Indefatigable war ein 64-Kanonen-Linienschiff mit 2 Decks, Stapellauf 1784, sie wurde 1794 zur Fregatte (44 Kanonen) umgebaut („Razee“) und erlangte unter ihrem Kapitän Sir Edward Pellew Berühmtheit.
  • Die zweite Indefatigable war ein bewaffnetes Schiff, das 1804 erworben und 1805 verkauft wurde.
  • Die dritte Indefatigable sollte ein 50-Kanonen Segler vierter Klasse werden (2.084 t, 176 ft lang, 53 ft hoch), in Auftrag gegeben 29. November 1832, gekündigt März 1834.
  • Die vierte Indefatigable war ebenfalls ein 50-Kanonen-Schiff vierter Klasse, Stapellauf 1848, verkauft 1914.
  • Die fünfte Indefatigable war ein Kreuzer zweiter Klasse, Stapellauf 1891, 1910 umbenannt in Melpomene, verkauft 1913.
  • Die sechste Indefatigable war ein Schlachtkreuzer der gleichnamigen Klasse, der 1909 vom Stapel lief. Sie wurde in der Skagerrakschlacht 1916 versenkt.
  • Die siebte Indefatigable war ein Flugzeugträger der Implacable-Klasse. Sie nahm Teil an der Jagd auf das Schlachtschiff Tirpitz, und wurde später in den Pazifik verlegt. Dort war sie das erste britische Schiff, das einem Kamikaze-Angriff ausgesetzt war. Sie wurde 1956 verschrottet.
