Information Ratio

Die Information Ratio ist eine Kennzahl zur Bewertung eines Investmentfonds und beschreibt die Überschussrendite im Verhältnis zum Tracking Error. Sie errechnet sich durch Division der Fondsrendite (ausgedrückt im Alpha) durch das Fondsrisiko (ausgedrückt im Tracking Error). Das Alpha misst dabei die Mehrrendite (Outperformance) des Fonds über seinen Referenzindex (Benchmark). Der Tracking Error gibt dabei die Volatilität der Abweichungen zwischen der Rendite des Fonds und des Referenzindizes an und ist somit eine Messgröße für das Fondsrisiko. Je höher eine Information Ratio ist, desto lohnender ist eine vom Index abweichende Investmentstrategie für einen Investor[1].
