Die International Dance Sport Federation (IDSF, engl. „Internationale Tanzsportvereinigung“) ist eine der beiden weltweiten Autoritäten des Tanzsports. Ihr Präsident ist Carlos Freitag, ihr Sitz liegt in Lausanne, Schweiz. Der Deutsche Tanzsportverband ist Mitglied in der IDSF.
Die IDSF ging 1990 aus dem 1957 in Wiesbaden gegründeten International Council of Amateur Dancers (ICAD) hervor. Die Vereinigung hat heute 86 nationale Mitgliedsvereinigungen auf fünf Kontinenten. 62 dieser Vereinigungen werden von ihren Nationalen Olympischen Komitees erkannt. Die IDSF repräsentiert mehr als vier Millionen Athleten. Sie ist bestrebt, Tanzen als olympische Sportart zu etablieren. Der Tanzsport nahm im Medaillenprogramm an den World Games 2005 in Duisburg teil.
Streitigkeiten mit dem WDC
Mit der Wahl des neuen Präsidenten Carlos Freitag beanspruchte die IDSF 2006 die alleinige Autorität im Tanzsport für sich. Der Artikel World Dance Council geht genauer auf die daraus resultierenden Streitigkeiten mit dem Konkurrenten World Dance Council (WDC) ein.
