Interstate L-6 war die militärische Bezeichnung der Interstate S-1A Cadet, ein 2-sitziges Flugzeug für die zivile und militärische Anfängerschulung. Die Interstate S-1A Cadet wurde 1941 von der Interstate Aircraft and Engineering Corporation konstruiert und gebaut. Im Jahr 1942 wurde die Interstate S1-B1 als militärisches Verbindungs und Aufklärungsflugzeug entwickelt. Beide Flugzeuge waren für ihre gutmütige Flugcharakteristik und die stabile Konstruktion bekannt. Es wurden über 600 Flugzeuge gebaut.
