Die American Radio Relay League (ARRL) ist die nationale Vereinigung der Funkamateure in der USA, vergleichbar mit dem DARC in Deutschland.
Gegründet wurde die ARRL im Mai 1914 von Hiram Percy Maxim. Momentan hat der Verein ca. 156.000 Mitglieder. Der Asteroid (31531) ARRL ist nach ihm benannt.
Service des Vereins
Die ARRL bietet verschiedene Angebote für seine Mitglieder an, dazu gehören:
- das Herausbringen eines Magazines über Amateurfunk und die ARRL mit dem Namen QST;
- kostenloser Versand von QSL-Karten an andere auf der ganzen Welt verteilte QSL-Büros anderer nationaler Amateurfunkorganisationen;
- das Herausgeben von Büchern und Magazinen zum Thema Amateurfunk;
- das Veranstalten verschiedener Wettbewerbe, unter anderem des International DX Contest, verschiedener UKW-Conteste usw.;
- das Vertreten der Interessen der Funkamateure in den USA gegenüber Politik, Wirtschaft und Wissenschaft.
