Kanenobu

Kanenobu [兼信, 兼延, 兼言] ist der Name eines japanischen Schwertschmieds und seines Clans, einer Gruppe, die für das Produzieren der Samuraiklingen, des Katana, des Wakizashi und gelegentlich der Stangen in der Art der Schule von Mino berühmt ist.

Die Geschichte der Familie umfasst einen Zeitraum von mehr als 500 Jahren. Nach Ansicht von Victor Harris, dem Kurator der Abteilung für japanische Antiquitäten am britischen Museum in London, entstand das Kanenobu der ersten Generation um das Jahr 1655 in der ehemaligen Provinz Mino, ein Gebiet, das für seine Klingen berühmt war.

Kanenobu ist als führender Schwertschmied anerkannt, einige seiner Verwandten sind noch heute aktiv. 2004 nahm einer der Nachkommen Kanenobus an der NBTHK-Klingenschmiedekonkurrenz teil. Bei einer japanischen Klingenausstellung am britischen Museum war eines der gezeigten Meisterwerke ein Kanenobu der dritten Generation, welche zwischen 1688 und 1704 angefertigt wurde.
