Klong Seng

Die Klong Seng (in Thai กลองเส็ง) ist ein zur Gruppe der Membranophone gehörendes Musikinstrument aus der Nordostregion von Thailand, dem Isaan.

Die Trommel ist beidseitig bespielbar, der Klangkörper besteht aus einem ausgehöhlten Baumstamm. Die beiden Trommelflächen sind mit Kuhfellen bespannt, die mit Hilfe von Hautstreifen zwischen den beiden Flächen gehalten werden. Die Trommelschlegel bestehen aus dem Holz der Tamarinde und sind am Kopf mit einem Überzug aus Blei versehen.

Die Klongseng wird entweder solo oder in einem Ensemble gespielt, zum Beispiel zum Tanz oder zum Raketenfest.
