Ein Kugelrohr oder genauer eine Kugelrohr-Destillationsapparatur ist eine Kurzweg-Destillationsanlage zur Trennung kleiner Mengen an Substanzen mit einem Siedepunkt von weniger als 300°C im Vakuum. Die Trennleistung ist bedingt durch die geringe Anzahl an theoretischen Böden jedoch recht gering. Eine Kugelrohrdestillation eignet sich besonders zur Entfernung leichtflüchtiger Lösungsmittelreste.

Aufbau

Eine moderne Kugelrohr-Apparatur hat einen elektrisch beheizten und thermostatisierten Ofen, in dem ein Kolben mit Luft beheizt wird. Das Destillat wird in einem rundem Kolben mit zwei Schliffen gesammelt, der auf einer Welle sitzt, die gedreht wird, um Siedeverzüge zu verhindern und ein gleichmäßiges Destillieren zu gewährleisten. Gekühlt wird das Destillat entweder mit Luft, Eis oder Trockeneis. In der Regel wird die Kugelrohr-Apparatur im Vakuum benutzt, um einen geringeren Siedepunkt zu erreichen.[1][2]

Weitere Verwendung

Eine Kugelrohr-Apparatur kann weiterhin zum Trocknen von Feststoffen, zur Sublimation oder zum Entfernen von Lösungsmitteln oder deren Reste im Vakuum dienen.
