Leyland Motors ist der Name eines britischen Nutzfahrzeugherstellers, dessen Anfänge in das Jahr 1896 zurückgehen, Namensgeber ist die Stadt Leyland in Lancashire. Zunächst wurden Lastwagen mit Dampfantrieb gebaut, eine in Großbritannien lange Zeit populäre Antriebsart, später kamen auch Fahrzeuge mit Benzinmotoren hinzu.

In den 1920er-Jahren erfolgten erste Versuche mit Dieselmotoren, ab den 1930er Jahren wurden diese in Serie produziert. In dieser Zeit stieg die Firma zu einem der wichtigsten britischen Lkw-Hersteller auf.

Auch Leyland trug lange zu einer britischen Besonderheit bei, den Milk floats, wörtlich Milchflößen, Lieferwagen mit den die Haushalte allmorgendlich mit Frischmilch versorgt wurden. An diesen hatte Leyland lange einen hohen Marktanteil.

In den 1950er-Jahren wurden die Konkurrenten Scammell und Albion übernommen. Seit 1953 wurden Leyland-Motoren beim niederländischen Hersteller DAF verwendet, später stellte dieser Leyland-Motoren in Lizenz her. 1962 wurde der Konkurrent AEC aufgekauft. Ende der 1960er-Jahre kam es zur Fusion mit den weiteren britischen Herstellern BMC Trucks und Guy, die sich unter dem Namen British Leyland Motor Corp. vereinten. Nach massiven Problemen in den 1970er- und 80er-Jahren wurde die Leyland-Lkw-Sparte 1987 an die Firma DAF verkauft, 1993 jedoch wieder verselbstständigt. Eine Kooperation mit DAF blieb jedoch bestehen. Im Jahr 1998 wurde Leyland von der Paccar-Gruppe übernommen, zu der inzwischen auch DAF gehörte. Die Fahrzeuge wurden bereits ab 1987 als DAF-Leyland vermarktet, seit 2000 heißen sie auch in Großbritannien nur noch DAF.
