Lockerbie (schottisch-gälisch: Logarbaidh) ist eine Kleinstadt im schottischen Verwaltungsbezirk Dumfries and Galloway. Sie liegt ca. 120 km (75 Meilen) südöstlich von Glasgow und ca. 32 km (20 Meilen) von der Grenze zu England entfernt. In Lockerbie leben laut Zensus von 2001 4.009 Menschen.

Die Stadt war zu ihrer Gründungszeit ein Handelsposten für Rinder und Schafe, auf Grund ihrer Grenzlage vor allem auch mit England. Noch heute finden Nutztierversteigerungen in Lockerbie statt.

Der Lockerbie-Anschlag

Der Ort Lockerbie wurde durch den Sprengstoffanschlag auf ein Flugzeug der PanAm am 21. Dezember 1988 international bekannt. Das Flugzeug wurde durch einen etwa 400 g schweren Sprengsatz von libyschen Terroristen zur Explosion gebracht, als es Lockerbie überflog. Dabei wurden 270 Menschen, davon 11 aus Lockerbie, getötet. Die Bewohner starben, als die Flügelsektion mit beiden mit Treibstoff gefüllten Tragflächen im Ort aufschlug und explodierte.

Als Mahnmal gibt es auf dem Friedhof von Lockerbie den Garden of Remembrance („Garten der Erinnerung“ in Lockerbie).
