Jane Lubchenco (* 4. Dezember 1947[1] in Denver) ist eine US-amerikanische Meeresbiologin. Im Dezember 2008 wurde bekannt, dass Lubchenco die zukünftige US-Meeresforschungseinrichtung des US-Präsidenten Barack Obama leiten wird.[2]

Lubchenco hat in der Vergangenheit wiederholt auf die Notwendigkeit staatlicher Maßnahmen zur Eindämmung der globalen Erwärmung aufmerksam gemacht und die Regierung von Präsident George Bush für einen respektlosen Umgang mit Wissenschaft kritisiert.[2]

Lubchenco wird durch die Ernennung durch Obama zur Direktorin der National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).[2]
