Major League Gaming

Die Major League Gaming (MLG) ist eine amerikanische E-Sport-Liga, die im Jahr 2002 von Sundance DiGiovanni und Mike Sepso gegründet wurde. Der Schwerpunkt des Ligabetriebs liegt auf Konsolenspielen.

Während einer Saison der Profiliga, des sogenannten Pro Circuits, gibt es Turniere in mehreren großen nordamerikanischen Städten. 2008 wurden Veranstaltungen in Anaheim, New Jersey, San Diego, Orlando, Toronto und Dallas ausgetragen.[1] Des Weiteren gibt es 2008 erstmals einen sogenannten PC Circuit, in dem World of Warcraft gespielt wird.[2] Im Jahr 2007 gewann das Team Carbon, noch mit dem Spiel Halo 2. 2008 wurde das Team Str8 Rippin Nationalmeister.

Die MLG wird im US-Fernsehen und über das Internet übertragen, außerdem gibt es eine Kooperation mit ESPN.com. Im Juni 2007 kaufte die MLG das amerikanische E-Sport-Webportal GotFrag.com.[3]
