Der Market Identifier Code (MIC) ist eine in der ISO 10383 definierte eindeutige, vierstellige Identifikationsnummer für Börsen und andere Handelsplätze[1].

Hintergründe

Die London Stock Exchange verwendet die MIC als Teil ihrer SEDOL-Nummern, um so eine eindeutige Identifikation von Wertpapieren zu ermöglichen[2].

Die ISIN alleine stellt zwar eine eindeutige Identifikation eines Wertpapiers dar, bestimmt jedoch nicht, an welchem Handelsplatz dieses gehandelt wird, so dass z.B. bei der Informationsabfrage aus Bloomberg meist die zusätzliche Angabe eines Börsenplatzes erforderlich ist.

Aufbau

Jede MIC beginnt in der Regel mit einem "X". Dieses wird gefolgt von einem alpha-numerischen, dreistelligen Code.
