Unter Medium Term Notes (MTN) versteht man mittelfristige Schuldverschreibungen mit einer Laufzeit von meist 1 bis 10 Jahren.

Oft werden die MTNs bewertet und dann mit den jeweiligen Ratingcodes versehen, z.B. AA MTN für eine double "A"-bewertete mittelfristige Schuldverschreibung.

US Medium Term Note

Die US Medium Term Notes (US-MTN, häufig auch direkt mit der Abkürzung MTN verbunden) sind die mittelfristigen Schuldverschreibungen im amerikanischen Raum

European Medium Term Note

European Medium Term Notes (EMTN, auch Euro Medium Term Notes) ist eine Sammlung (ein "Korb") mittelfristiger Schuldverschreibungen.

Im Rahmen eines sogenannten EMTN-Programms, einer Art Rahmenvertrag zwischen Unternehmen und den Händlern von Schuldverschreibungen (meist Banken), wird Unternehmen die Emission von Wertpapieren am europäischen und asiatischen Kapitalmarkt zur flexiblen Beschaffung von Fremdkapital innerhalb kürzester Zeit ermöglicht. Sowohl Laufzeiten, Währung als auch die Konstruktion der einzelnen Programme können erheblich variieren. Möglich sind hier sowohl Standardanleihen als auch Floater mit variablem Zinsanteil.
