Die Methodist Church of Great Britain ist eine methodistische Kirche in England, Schottland und Wales

Die Kirche entstand 1932 durch den Zusammenschluss der Original Connexion, der Primitive Methodists und der (britischen) United Methodist Church und zählt derzeit etwa 330.000 Mitglieder in rund 6.100 Gemeinden. Die Ordination von Frauen ist in der Methodist Church of Great Britain möglich.

Die Segnung gleichgeschlechtlicher Paare wurde diskutiert und von der Konferenz 2006 abgelehnt. Methodistischen Kirchenmitgliedern ist es hingegen erlaubt, eine eingetragene Partnerschaft einzugehen. [1]

Ein Fusionsplan mit der Church of England scheiterte an wenigen Stimmen 1972 in der anglikanischen Generalsynode. In jüngeren Jahren haben die beiden Kirchen jedoch gelegentlich sehr eng zusammengearbeitet und gemeinsame Vereinbarungen entwickelt, die unterhalb der Schwelle der vollen Kirchenunion bleiben.[2]
