John Michael Bishop (* 22. Februar 1936 in York, Pennsylvania) ist ein amerikanischer Virologe.

1989 erhielt er zusammen mit Harold E. Varmus den Nobelpreis für Physiologie oder Medizin „für ihre Entdeckung des zellularen Ursprungs der potentiell krebserzeugenden sog. Retroviren“.
