Im Jahr 2001 betrug die Bevölkerung 27.471 auf einer Gesamtfläche von 3.424 km². Sitz der Gemeindeverwaltung ist Dewetsdorp.[1] Motlatsi Motlohi ist der Bürgermeister.[2]
Die Gemeinde ist benannt nach dem Sesotho-Begriff für „ein Stern“ und soll das Streben nach einer helleren und wohlhabenden Zukunft symbolisieren.[3]
