NantuaNantua ist eine französische Gemeinde mit 3633 Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2008) im Département Ain (Département) in der Region Rhône-Alpes. Nantua ist Unterpräfektur des Arrondissements Nantua und Hauptort des Kantons Nantua. Die Stadt liegt am Ufer des gleichnamigen Sees und unterhalb eines instabilen Kalkfelsens, der unter permanenter Kontrolle steht.
Kaiser Karl der Kahle wurde im Oktober 877 in Nantua beerdigt, später aber in die Abtei Saint-Denis umgebettet.
Kulinarische Spezialität des Ortes ist die Nantua-Sauce (Sauce Nantua), die üblicherweise zu Fischklößchen serviert wird.
