Die Firma National Instruments hat sich auf die hard- und softwareseitige Lösung von Mess- und Steuerungsproblemen spezialisiert. Als bahnbrechende Weiterentwicklung in der Software gilt ihr Konzept der virtuellen Instrumente, das ein grafisches Arbeiten ermöglicht. Gleichzeitig können sowohl reale Daten mit allen gängigen Schnittstellen eingelesen als auch Signale simuliert werden. Der Firmensitz der National Instruments Corporation ist in Austin, Texas, USA.

Produkte

  • LabVIEW, graphisches Programmiersystem, das es erlaubt, sogenannte Virtuelle Instrumente (VI) zu erzeugen. Ein Virtuelles Instrument besteht dabei aus einem Frontpanel (graphische Oberfläche für den Benutzer), einem sogenannten Blockdiagramm (graphische Programmierung der Programmlogik) und einem Anschlusspanel, das es erlaubt, das Virtuelle Instrument als in sich abgeschlossene Funktionalität wieder zu verwenden (als sogenanntes SubVI).
  • LabWindows/CVI, ist eine ereignisorientierte ANSI-C-Programmierumgebung. LabWindows benutzt die gleichen Bibliotheken und Datenerfassungsmodule wie LabVIEW. LabWindows/CVI richtet sich an Softwareentwickler, die mit textorientierten Programmiersprachen wie Java, C oder Python vertraut sind.
  • Measurement Studio
  • NI TestStand dient dem systematischen wiederkehrenden Testen und Berichterzeugung. Es erlaubt verschiedene LabVIEW-VIs der Reihe nach auszuführen und entsprechend deren Ausgabe Entscheidungen zu treffen, z. B. den Programmfluss zu verändern.
  • NI DIAdem zur Auswertung von Messdaten. Dabei können Berichte und Auswertungen basierend auf einer Vielzahl vorgefertigter Auswertefunktionen erstellt werden oder das Ergebnis in Diagrammen oder Tabellen dargestellt werden.

  • PXI, eine Weiterentwicklung der Standards PCI und CompactPCI (cPCI) für die Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik.
  • CompactDAQ (Datenerfassungssystem)

  • NI Multisim eine CAD-Software, welche neben der reinen Erstellung von Schaltplänen und -kreisen auch deren Arbeitsweise simulieren kann. Es gibt unterschiedliche Versionen von NI Multisim, u.a. die kostenlose Analog Devices Edition, welche jedoch nur über einen eingeschränkten Funktionsumfang verfügt.
  • NXT-G, Standard-Programmiersoftware für Lego Mindstorms.
  • LabVIEW Robotics, ist eine LabVIEW Erweiterung, die sich auf die Steuerung von (mobilen) Robotern bezieht. Es werden diverse Roboter unterstützt, von LEGO NXT, über qfix, bis hin zu Volksbot oder großen Plattformen von Roboterwerk.
