Bonifatius IX. (eigentlich Pietro Tomacelli; * 1350 in Neapel; † 1. Oktober 1404 in Rom) war Papst vom 2. November 1389 bis 1404.

Vor seinem Pontifikat war Kardinal Tomacelli in San Giorgio in Velabro als Bischof tätig. Er regierte während des Abendländischen Schismas in Rom, während in Avignon Clemens VII. amtierte. Er stellte im Kirchenstaat die Herrschaft des Papstes wieder her.

Da er von der Rechtmäßigkeit seiner päpstlichen Würde überzeugt war, bemühte er sich kaum um eine Beendigung des Schismas. Während seines Pontifikats fand der letzte mittelalterliche Kreuzzug statt, die Schlacht von Nikopolis.

Er starb am 1. Oktober 1404 in Rom.
