Das Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology oder RMIT University, kurz RMIT, ist eine Universität in Melbourne im australischen Bundesstaat Victoria.

Gegründet wurde die RMIT im Jahre 1887 von Francis Ormond als "Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology". Neben dem Hauptstandort im Zentrum von Melbourne (City Campus) gibt es Standorte in Bundoora (Bundoora Campus), Brunswick (Brunswick Campus), Fisherman Bend (Fisherman's Bend Site), Hamilton (Hamilton Site), Lakes Entrance (Lakes Entrance Site) und Point Cook (Point Cook Site). Die "RMIT International University, Vietnam" hat Standorte in Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt (seit 2001) sowie Hanoi (seit 2004) in Vietnam.

Von den 63.085 Studenten sind 31.720 Studenten in regulären Studiengängen und 10.398 in postgradualen Programmen eingeschrieben. 20.967 Teilnehmer sind in Weiterbildungsmassnahmen eingebunden.
