Rail Integration System

Das Rail Interface System (auch Rail Adapter System oder Rail Integration System) ist eine Schiene zur Montage von Zusatzgeräten an Handfeuerwaffen. Die Schiene ermöglicht die schnelle Montage von Visieren, Nachtsichtgeräten, taktischen Lampen, Lasern und Granatwerfern.

Mit Hilfe dieser Schiene, die heutzutage an fast jedem modernen Sturmgewehr angebracht ist (z. B. M16-A3, G36C und einige Versionen des Steyr AUG) ist es nicht mehr notwendig sogenannte Mount Bases an den Waffen zu verschrauben um Visiere anbringen zu können (z. B. AK 47, FN FAL, und M14)

Durch das Zusatzgewicht der Anbaugeräte verändert sich das Gewicht der Waffe, abhängig von der Anbaupostion auch der Schwerpunkt. Die bekanntesten Ausführungen sind die Picatinny-Schiene (MIL-STD-1913) und Weaver.
