Rehavam Ze'evi

Rehaw'am Ze'ewi (hebräisch רחבעם זאבי, Alternativschreibweise Rehavam Zeevi; * 20. Juni 1926; † 17. Oktober 2001) war ein israelischer General, Politiker und Historiker, der die rechtsextrem-nationalistische Moledet-Partei gründete. Er starb bei einem Attentat, das von der Volksfront zur Befreiung Palästinas während der Al-Aqsa-Intifada durchgeführt wurde.

1974 wurde er Antiterrorismus-Berater des israelischen Premierministers Jitzchak Rabin. 1975 wurde er Berater für die Geheimdienste. Ze'ewi trat 1977 von dieser Position zurück, als Begin 1977 Premierminister wurde. 1981 wurde Ze'ewi zum Direktor des Eretz-Israel-Museums in Tel-Aviv ernannt.

1988 gründete die Partei Moledet („Heimatland“). Diese Bewegung hatte sich als wesentliches Ziel die Vertreibung der Palästinenser aus Israel, Gaza, Westjordanland und Ostjerusalem gesetzt.[1] Ze'ewi war sehr enttäuscht über die Madrider Nahost-Konferenz von 1991 und verließ die Likud-Regierung von Jitzchak Schamir. In den nächsten 10 Jahren blieb er in der Opposition. Die Regierung von Jitzchak Rabin und Schimon Peres lehnte er ebenso ab wie die von Ehud Barak. 1999 verbündete sich die Moledet mit der Cherut und gründete eine gemeinsame Fraktion, die Nationale Union. Nach der Wahl Ariel Scharons zum Premierminister 2001 wurde er Tourismusminister.
