Die Glanz-Rose oder Glanzblättrige Rose (Rosa nitida) ist eine Wildrose, die im Osten Kanadas und in Neu-England heimisch ist. Ihr botanischer und Trivialname bezieht sich auf die glänzenden Blätter (von lateinisch nitidus = glänzend). Diese Art ist im Nordosten Nordamerikas beheimatet.

Beschreibung

Rosa nitida wächst als kompakter, ausläuferbildender Strauch, der Wuchshöhen von bis zu 80 Zentimeter erreicht. Ihre stacheligen Äste sind rötlich-braun. Ihre glänzenden, gefiederten Laubblätter sind dunkelgrün und verfärben sich im Herbst leuchtend rot und gelb. Die Fiederblätter sind schmal mit gesägten Blattrand.

Sie blüht einmal Ende Juni, mit kleinen, zwittrigen, leuchtend rosa Blüten, die einen Durchmesser von etwa 4 bis 5 cm aufweisen. Es werden kleine (0,8 bis 1 cm), rundliche, zinnoberrote, borstige Hagebutten gebildet.

Nutzung

Diese Art ist robust, winterhart bis -35 °C (USDA-Zone 4). Sie wurde 1807 von Carl Ludwig Willdenow nach Europa eingeführt. Rosa nitida verträgt Kälte und Hitze, Trockenheit und schlecht drainierte Böden.
