Sound in Sync

Sound in Sync [saʊnd ɪn sɪŋk], in Großbritannien auch Sound-in-syncs, ist ein Verfahren, bei dem die horizontale Austastlücke eines PAL-Signals anstelle des herkömmlichen Synchronimpulses und der Schwarzschultern ein digitales, üblicherweise unkomprimiertes Tonsignal beherbergt.

Zur Wiedergabe ist ein zusätzlicher Dekoder erforderlich. Das Verfahren wird somit vor allem für interne Übertragungen zwischen Fernsehsendern, beispielsweise von der Europäischen Rundfunkunion verwendet.
