Toulmin

Stephen Edelston Toulmin (* 25. März 1922 in London) ist ein amerikanischer Philosoph britischer Herkunft. Mit seinem Buch The Uses of Argument (1958) gilt Toulmin als Begründer der Argumentationstheorie.

Toulmin ist Professor an der University of Southern California.

Am 2. März 2006 wurde Toulmin vom österreichischen Bundespräsidenten Heinz Fischer das Österreichische Ehrenzeichen für Wissenschaft und Kunst überreicht.

Toulmin ist Mitglied des Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal.
