Tutorial

Mit dem englischen Lehnwort Tutorial [tuːˈtɔːɹiəl] (lat. tueri „beschützen, bewahren, pflegen“) bezeichnet man im Computerjargon eine schriftliche oder filmische Gebrauchsanleitung für ein Computerprogramm, in der die Bedienung und die Funktionen anhand von (teils bebilderten) Beispielen Schritt für Schritt erklärt werden.

Tutorials können auch Teil des Programms sein und dieses durch das Prinzip Learning by Doing erklären (häufige Anwendung in Computerspielen).

Tutorials werden meist vom Anbieter des Programms oder von erfahrenen Benutzern verfasst und ermöglichen es Neulingen – ähnlich wie bei einer persönlichen Einschulung – Erfahrung zu sammeln und ohne Lehrkraft schnell Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Tutorials fungieren im Gegensatz zu einem Handbuch oder Nachschlagewerk als Einführung in bestimmte Anwendungsbereiche der Software und brauchen daher ihren Funktionsumfang nicht vollständig wiederzugeben.
