Viaticum

Sterbekommunion ist ein Begriff der christlichen Liturgie und meint den Empfang der Kommunion in der Sterbestunde. Sie wird auch „Wegzehrung“ (lateinisch: viaticum) genannt. Im Römischen Ritus der katholischen Kirche wird sie dem Sterbenden innerhalb oder außerhalb einer Messfeier gereicht, möglichst unter beiden Gestalten von Brot und Wein, nötigenfalls auch allein als Kelchkommunion. Die Teilnehmer an der Feier können in ihr gleichfalls kommunizieren.
