Vishwa Hindu Parishad

Der Vishwa Hindu Parishad VHP (Hindi, f., विश्व हिंदू परिषद्, viśva hindū pariṣad, "Welt-Hindu-Rat") ist eine hindunationalistische Organisation in Indien. 1964 gegründet, zählt sie zu den hindunationalistischen Organisationen, welche allgemein unter der Bezeichnung Sangh Parivar zusammengefasst werden. Der VHP versteht sich als der Flügel der Sangh Parivar, welcher öffentliche Mobilisierungen zum Zweck gewaltsamer ziviler Aktionen gegen Nicht-Hindus, zumeist Angehörige des Islams und des Christentums, durchführt. So war der VHP maßgeblich an den Vorbereitungen zur Zerstörung der Babri-Moschee 1992 in Ayodhya beteiligt. Er setzt sich für den Wiederaufbau des Ram-Janmabhumi-Tempels an der Stelle der zerstörten Babri-Moschee in Ayodhya ein. Der VHP steht unter starker Kritik, weil er systematisch kommunale Konflikte zwischen Hindus und Moslems schürt.
