Es standen sich der Champion der American League, die Boston Red Sox, und der Champion der National League, die Colorado Rockies, gegenüber. Sieger derBest of Seven“-Serie waren die Boston Red Sox glatt in vier Spielen mit einem Sweep, die damit ihren zweiten Titel in vier Jahren errangen.

Als MVP der World Series wurde Mike Lowell ausgezeichnet.
