Das Franchise spielt seit seiner Gründung in der in der National League und gehört dort der Western Division an.
Der größte Erfolg der Diamondbacks war der Gewinn der World Series 2001. Neben dem im gleichen Jahr errungenen Gewinn des Titels der National League konnten sie sich insgesamt vier weitere Male für die Postseason qualifizieren, insbesondere aktuell in der Saison 2011.
