Yanni (* 14. November 1954 in Kalamata; eigentlich griechisch Γιάννης Χρυσομάλλης Giannis Chrysomallis) ist ein griechischer Komponist, Pianist und Keyboarder.

Biografie

Im Alter von 18 Jahren verließ er Griechenland, um an der University of Minnesota zu studieren. Bereits während seines Studiums spielte er in einer Band, die den Namen Chameleon trug, die von Charlie Adams gegründet worden war. 1984 veröffentlichte er sein erstes Album. Sein 1992 veröffentlichtes Album "Dare to Dream" war für den Grammy nominiert. Das Konzert, das er im September 1993 an der Akropolis im Odeon des Herodes Atticus zusammen mit einem Orchester unter der Leitung von Shahrdad Rohani gab, wurde 1994 als Album und Video veröffentlicht.
