CP Puppis

CP Puppis (auch Nova Puppis 1942) war einer der hellsten und schnellsten Novaerscheinungen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sie leuchtete 1942 im Sternbild Puppis auf und erreichte 0,3 mag. Der Novaüberrest ist ein Kataklysmischer Veränderlicher (CV) mit einer für Novae sehr kurzen Bahnperiode von nur 1,47 Stunden[1].

Der hohe Fluß im Röntgenbereich und dessen starke Modulation mit einer Periode von ebenfalls 1,47 Stunden[1] weisen auf eine mögliche magnetische Natur des Weißen Zwerges hin, und das System gehört somit eventuell der Klasse der DQ-Herculis-Sterne an.
