Badminton Canada

Badminton Canada ist die oberste nationale administrative Organisation in der Sportart Badminton in Kanada. Der Verband wurde 1921 als Canadian Badminton Association (CBA) gegründet.

Geschichte

Badminton wurde in Kanada erstmals Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts gespielt. 1921 folgte die Gründung des nationales Verbandes. 1922 wurden die ersten nationalen Titelkämpfe ausgetragen. 1934 wurde die CBA Gründungsmitglied der Badminton World Federation, damals als International Badminton Federation bekannt. 1957 starteten die Canadian Open.

Die CBA wurde 1976 Gründungsmitglied des kontinentalen Dachverbands Badminton Pan Am Confederation, damals noch unter dem Namen Pan American Badminton Confederation bekannt. Der Verband engagierte zum Fortschritt der Sportart im Lande bedeutende Trainerpersönlichkeiten wie Gordon Mack, Judy Devlin, Channarong Ratanaseangsuang und Paul Whetnall. Anfang des neuen Jahrtausends wurde der Verband in Badminton Canada umbenannt.
