Louann Brizendine (* 1952) lehrte Neuropsychiatrie an der University of California (UCL) in San Francisco. Ihre Forschungen befassen sich mit den weiblichen Hormonen und weiblichen Stimmungslagen.

Berufsleben

Brizendine schloss an der University of California in Berkeley mit einem Bachelor in Neurobiologie ab. Danach studierte sie von 1976 bis 1981 an der Yale School of Medicine mit dem Abschluss M. D.. In den Jahren 1982 bis 1985 erhielt sie ein Stipendium (Residency) für die Harvard Medical School und lehrte dort von 1985 bis 1988. Im selben Jahr ging sie an die UCL, wo sie bis zum Jahre 2007 den von der Stiftung Lynne and Marc Benioff eingerichteten Lehrstuhl für Psychiatrie innehielt.

1994 gründete Brizendine die Women's Mood and Hormone Clinic der UCL in San Francisco und wurde deren Direktor. In der Klinik werden nicht nur Frauen behandelt sondern auch Paare. Ferner hält Brizendine in den gesamten USA Vorträge und Lehrveranstaltungen ab.
