Peñoles ist ein mexikanisches Minen- und Bergbauunternehmen mit Firmensitz in Mexiko-Stadt. Es ist nach eigenen Angaben der größte private Exporteur Mexikos.[1] Peñoles ist im Índice de Precios y Cotizaciones (IPC) an der Bolsa Mexicana de Valores gelistet.

Das Unternehmen besitzt Minen in:

  • Fresnillo (die weltweit reichste Silbermine)
  • La Ciénega (Mexikos reichste Goldmine)
  • La Herradura (Mexikos größte Goldmine)
  • Naica
  • Francisco I. Madero (Mexikos größte Zinkmine)

Das Unternehmen wird von Alberto Baillères geleitet. Gegründet wurde es 1887. Bei Peñoles sind rund 8.400 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt.

Im Dezember 2008 wurden bei einem Streik in einer Mine des Unternehmens zwei Bergarbeiter erschossen, nachdem sie und andere Kumpel in Streik getreten waren. Mit dem Streik protestierten sie gegen die Inhaftierung zweier Gewerkschaftsführer. Die Produktion in mehreren Minen kam zum Erliegen, nachdem die Gewerkschaft der Minen- und Metallarbeiter dazu aufgerufen hatte. Die Gewerkschaftsführer Carlos Pavon Campos (Öffentlichkeitsarbeit) und Juan Linares Montufar (Sicherheitschef) waren inhaftiert worden, da sie angeblich einen Minen-Arbeiter-Fond in Höhe von 55 Millionen US-Dollar von der Gewerkschaft veruntreut hatten.[2]
