Logo der Akademie

Das Projekt Filmmakers in Prison wurde von der Deutschen Filmakademie e.V. im Frühjahr 2011 in Berlin auf Vorschlag des Drehbuchautors Fred Breinersdorfer gegründet. Mit dem Projekt soll die Öffentlichkeit auf die politische Verfolgung von Filmschaffenden in totalitären Systemen aufmerksam gemacht und Betroffene unerrstützt werden. Ab Ende November 2011 läuft in über 300 deutschen Kinos ein von Filmmakers in Prison produzierter Social Spot mit unter anderem Daniel Brühl, Moritz Bleibtreu, Johanna Wokalek, Martina Gedeck und Wotan Wilke Möhring.

Filmmakers in Prison ist eine unabhängige Organisation und steht nicht nur Akademiemitgliedern offen. Sie kooperiert mit der Berlinale, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch und Reporter ohne Grenzen.
