Die Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in the City and Diocese of New York ist die Kathedrale der Episcopal Diocese of New York und Sitz ihres Bischofs. Sie befindet sich im New Yorker Viertel Morningside Heights in der Upper West Side an der Amsterdam Avenue Ecke 112th Street.
Bischof Horatio Potter sprach 1872 das Thema der Errichtung einer Kathedrale an, worauf dies einstimmig beschlossen wurde und 1873 die Gründungsurkunde für die Kathedrale zu St. John the Devine ausgestellt wurde. 1888 wurde das 5,25 Hektar große Areal für die Kathedrale ausgewählt, auf dem am 27. Dezember 1892 am Tag des Heiligen Johannes der Grundstein gelegt wurde. Der Entwurf von George Lewis Heins und John LaFarge sah einen byzantinisch-romanischen Stil vor, der jedoch von Ralph Cram 1911 in Neugotik abgeändert wurde, nachdem die große Kuppel 1909 von Rafael Guastavino fertiggestellt worden war. Mit 11.240 m² Grundfläche, einem Volumen von 476.350 m³ und einer Länge von 183,2 m ist sie die größte anglikanische Kirche und nach dem Petersdom und der Basilika Notre-Dame de la Paix die drittgrößte christliche Kirche der Welt. John the Divine sollte die größte werden, ist aber erst zu zwei Dritteln fertiggestellt. Die Bauarbeiten sind 1999 vorläufig aus Geldmangel eingestellt worden. Auch von 1941 bis 1979 hatten die Arbeiten geruht. Im Dezember 2001 zerstörte ein Feuer das nördliche Querschiff, 2003 begann die Restaurierung.
Die Orgel von 1911, die 1952 erweitert wurde, hat 8035 Pfeifen und zählt zu den bekanntesten der Welt. Ein Kuriosum stellt der Altar von Keith Haring dar.
